Western Gulf Lease Sale 196 was held on August 17, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 500 Poydras Plaza, Downtown New Orleans.

NOTE: MMS Extends Post-Sale Evaluation Period

The MMS has extended for 45 days the post-sale evaluation period for Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 196. All bids evaluations will be completed by December 30, 2005. The extension was necessary due to the prolonged closure of the Gulf of Mexico Regional Office because of damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
