Unitization

Under 30 CFR 250 Subpart M regulations, BOEMRE may approve or require unitization for the conservation of the natural resources of the Outer Continental Shelf, prevention of waste, and/or protection of correlative rights, including the protection of Federal royalty interests. Unitization may also promote and expedite exploration and development. Unitization combines or consolidates leases or portions of leases under the terms of a Unit Agreement. Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA) Statement (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.): The documents on this website pertaining to unitization are intended to provide clarification, description, or interpretation of certain requirements contained in 30 CFR 250, Subpart M. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved the information collection requirements for these regulations and assigned OMB Control Number 1010-0068. These website documents do not impose additional information collection requirements subject to the PRA.
