Norton to Discuss FY 2006 Budget

(WASHINGTON) -- Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton will provide an overview of the administration's proposed FY 2006 budget for the Department of the Interior at a 1 p.m. EST briefing in the Sidney R. Yates auditorium of the Main Interior Building on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.

Norton's remarks will precede a presentation by Lynn P. Scarlett, Interior’s assistant secretary for Policy, Management and Budget. A question-and-answer session will follow. Departmental and bureau representatives will then be available to answer more detailed inquiries. The conference will be broadcast live by satellite with close-circuit captioning. Audio of the presentation is available through a “listen-only” conferencing bridge from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST.

News media representatives in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area should enter the C Street side of the Main Interior Building, present identification and sign in at the media information desk to receive budget briefing material. Those who need to set up equipment should arrive early. Media unable to attend the briefing may call Interior’s Office of Communications for more information or to schedule telephone interviews with departmental and bureau spokespersons.
